And the unofficial group portrait -"do something Chihuly-ish"

Chihuly Field Trip

In keeping with our glass working theme this semester, we visited a Chihuly instillation yesterday. It's pretty awsome in person. Pictures show the kids working in their sketchbooks and generally soaking up the atmosphere. We really appreciated the folks at this instillation for taking the time to let is look around. Notice that we have the place all to ourselves! It was a perfect finish to a great field trip.

Glass Fusing 101

Experimenting in the new glass department. We're loving it and are learning fast - experience is the best teacher if no one else is around to 'larn' you.

It's great fun and I can see we're going to need to spend a lot more money on glass and bandaids.

Glass Fusing

Trying a new form of art- glass slumping and fusing - involves stacking shapes and cutting pieces, then heating them just enough that they bond. It's been a great follow up project after learning about the famous glass artist, Dale Chihuly.
