Quaken Aspens

Quaken Aspens #1
Watercolor
I always go back to my old favorites - quaken aspen trees.

Watercolor
Another little ditty playing with the Hot Press Paper and water color pencils. I could help the folks unbend a little - anyway, a memory along the Seine River.

Water color on Hot Press

A scene from central Utah.
Haven't used Hot Press paper for years until a good friend gave me a few sheets
and I have been experimenting all summer.

Plowed Fields #3

Plowed Fields #3
Acrylic

Another memory of the grain harvest with a bit more realism. Tried to simplify images again to contrast with the sweep of the straw waiting to be bailed. I swore I never wanted to leave the farm, but my father said it was just the scenery I was in love with, not the work. I believe he was right.

Plowed fields #2

Plowed Fields #2
Acrylic

A sample of what we've tried this summer. Memories of doing farm work come back vividly. The undulating lines are fun to work with and the simplified shapes let me get right into the memory without getting hung up on structure.
